NVivo à l’épreuve du terrain : une analyse ethnographique réflexive des dynamiques d’autonomisation féminine en agroécologie au Sénégal NVivo in the field: A reflexive ethnographic analysis of women’s empowerment dynamics in agroecological farming in Senegal

Résumé

Cet article propose une réflexion méthodologique sur l’usage du logiciel NVivo dans une enquête ethnographique auprès de 100 femmes rurales engagées dans le maraîchage agroécologique au Sénégal. Il montre comment, en contexte multilingue, le logiciel peut à la fois soutenir l’analyse d’un corpus volumineux et fragiliser l’épaisseur des récits par la fragmentation, la standardisation et la survalorisation des thèmes fréquents. L’article discute quatre dispositifs, le codage inductif/déductif, les mémos contextuels, les validations participatives et la triangulation, pour faire du logiciel NVivo un appui plutôt qu’un carcan analytique.

Abstract

This article offers a methodological reflection on the use of NVivo in an ethnographic study conducted with 100 rural women engaged in agroecological market gardening in Senegal. It shows how, in a multilingual context, the software can both support the analysis of a large and heterogeneous corpus and simultaneously undermine the thickness of life stories through fragmentation, standardization and the overemphasis of frequently coded themes. The article then discusses four analytical devices – combining inductive and deductive coding, systematic contextual memos, participatory validation, and triangulation – as ways of making NVivo a support rather than an analytical straitjacket.
