Abstract
First Nations data sovereignty is an essential terrain of struggle in the settler colonial context. As part of the overall aim of self-determination, First Nations leadership have mandated the creation of principles that assert First Nations ownership, control, access, and possession of their data and information – the OCAP® principles. These principles have been exercised both nationally and regionally through the Regional Health Survey stewarded by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) and, in Quebec by First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Health and Social Services Commission (FNQLHSSC).
