Abstract
This scoping review, guided by the models of Arskey and O’Malley and the JBI group, examines the use of podcasts in university settings, focusing on their educational benefits and challenges. A comprehensive literature search identified relevant studies from three different continents. The findings reveal that podcasts enhance student motivation and foster deeper comprehension in education, medicine, and social work. However, challenges such as technological barriers and varying levels of quality were identified. The review emphasizes the importance of aligning podcast content with academic objectives. Recommendations for future research include exploring the long-term impacts of podcast use on student performance and retention.
