Formation à distance, pandémie et pauvreté à Madagascar Distance Education, Pandemic and Poverty in Madagascar

Résumé

Les universités ont fermé soudainement leurs portes au cours de la pandémie de COVID‑19. L’enseignement à distance pourrait permettre la continuité de l’enseignement, mais dans quelle mesure la situation socioéconomique des étudiants malgaches pourrait-elle constituer un obstacle à la réalisation d’un enseignement à distance efficace? L’étude a été menée auprès de 34 étudiants volontaires de l’Institut national de formation des enseignants de l’Université d’Antananarivo. D’après les résultats, l’insuffisance de préparation des dispositifs pédagogiques universitaires mis en oeuvre et les difficultés d’accès à Internet constituent des obstacles pour les étudiants. Des éléments de solution sont proposés.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, universities had to close. Face-to-face courses unexpectedly stopped and online courses helped to overcome the crisis in many countries. But in Madagascar, to what extent could social and financial situation of the students prevent from an efficient distance learning? This study involved 34 volunteer students from National Institute for Teachers Training of the University of Antananarivo. Results highlight that limited access to Internet combined with the lack of preparation of the educational tools were the main obstacles for students. Some alternatives are proposed in this document.
