Résumé
L'objectif de cet article introductif est d’expliquer de quelle manière la prise en compte du concept de territoire devrait changer la capacité explicative des sciences économiques et sociales. En présence d’une nouvelle situation historique provenant de l’évolution actuelle du capitalisme, la dynamique de compétitivité provient de moins en moins des unités de production (grandes ou petites), ou des économies nationales, et de plus en plus des systèmes territoriaux qui devraient aussi exercer un poids décisif sur la création de la valeur économique.

Abstract
The aim of this introductory paper is to explain how consideration of the territorial concept is likely to change the explanatory capacity of the economic and social sciences. Competitiveness dynamics, in the context of a new historical situation generated by the current évolution of capitalism, are generated less by production units (large or small) or national économies, and more by territorial systems that should also play a decisive role in the création of economic value.
Resumen
El objetivo de este ensayo es el de interrogarse sobre la manera en que, alrededor de la categoría conceptual de territorio, va refundándose la capacidad explicativa de las ciencias económico-sociales. Frente a un pasaje de la historia en que se va afirmando una nueva era en el desarrollo capitalistico, la dinámica de las competencias se realiza siempre menos, en efecto, entre singulos sujetos (sean éstos grandes o pequeñas empresas) o economías nacionales, y siempre más entre sistemas territorializados que van, de tal manera, ejerciendo una función decisiva en la creación del valor económico.
