Résumé
Cette contribution questionne le caractère improbable d’une mobilisation qui conteste la fermeture discrétionnaire des frontières, menée par les demandeurs d’asile se trouvant sur l’île de Lampedusa (Italie) en juillet 2013. Ces migrants sont officiellement enfermés dans un centre de premiers secours et d’accueil. Pourtant, ils réussissent d’une part, à organiser une action collective qui se déroule dans l’espace public, et d’autre part, à obtenir des pouvoirs publics un arrangement qui leur est favorable. Après avoir rappelé les moments forts de la mobilisation, cet article propose d’analyser son déroulement et ses conséquences à la lumière de l’espace particulier au sein duquel il prend forme, et des ressources mobilisées et mobilisables par ses protagonistes. En nous appuyant sur une enquête qualitative menée en 2013 et en 2014, nous nous proposons d’éclairer en quoi le mouvement des demandeurs d’asile étudié peut être considéré improbable, et de contribuer aux récents débats sur l’identité collective au sein des mouvements sociaux.

Abstract
This contribution questions the improbable nature of a mobilization against the discretionary closing of borders, led by asylum seekers located on the island of Lampedusa (Italy) in July 2013. These migrants are officially confined in an emergency and reception centre. Nevertheless, they succeeded in organizing a collective action held in a public space, on the one hand, and in obtaining a favorable arrangement from the public authorities, on the other. After recalling the key moments of the mobilization, this article analyzes its unfolding and consequences in light of the special space in which it took place and the resources that were mobilized and mobilizable by its protagonists. Based on a qualitative survey carried out in 2013 and 2014, we set out to determine for what reason the studied asylum seeker movement can be considered to be improbable and in so doing, contribute to recent debates on collective identity within social movements.

Esta contribución cuestiona el carácter improbable de la movilización que objeta el cierre discrecional de las fronteras, realizada por los demandantes de asilo que se encontraban en la isla de Lampedusa (Italia), en julio de 2013. Estos inmigrantes son oficialmente encerrados en un centro de acogida y primeros auxilios. Sin embargo logran, por una parte, organizar una acción colectiva que se desarrolla en el espacio público y, por otra, logran establecer un acuerdo con los poderes públicos que les es favorable. Después de recordar los momentos fuertes de la movilización, el artículo propone analizar su desarrollo y consecuencias a la luz del espacio particular en cuyo seno toma forma, y de los recursos movilizados y movilizables por sus protagonistas. Apoyándonos en una investigación cualitativa realizada entre 2013 y 1014, nos proponemos aclarar en qué medida el movimiento de los demandantes de asilo puede ser considerado improbable, y contribuir a los recientes debates acerca de la identidad colectiva al interior de los movimientos sociales.
