Abstract
This study intends to test an achievement motivation model with a selection of adults resuming their studies. It examines with the help of questionnaires the role of the conceptions of intelligence, the goals and the feeling of competence on the studying strategies, as well as on the performance at the year final exam. The results emphasize the positive effect of the acquisition goal ; however, its use does not have an impact on the success at the exam. A high feeling of competence for the exam predicts a good academic performance; whereas an orientation towards a performance of social approval goal has a rather negative effect on the final performance.
