This article studies the ecstatic philosophy that Val del Omar articulates around cinema, by examining several of José Val del Omar’s essays as well as the Tríptico elemental de España. This will be pursued in dialogue with Henry Bergson’s philosophy, Walter Benjamin’s notions of “aura” and “profane illumination,” Laura Mark’s “haptic visuality,” and Deleuze and Guattari’s idea of “haptic space,” as well as the propositions of Rachel O. Moore’s “savage theory.”
