In a special collaboration of Quality Advancement in Nursing Education-Avancées en formation infirmière and the University of Alberta Faculty of Nursing, we are pleased to share a selection of nursing education abstracts, peer-reviewed and presented at the inaugural Innovate 2025 conference held in April 2025. We asked Dr. Shannon Scott, Dean of the Faculty, for her vision for this conference and its outcomes. Innovate 2025: Advancing Nursing Practice through Research and Education marked a significant milestone as the faculty’s inaugural conference dedicated to shaping the future of nursing. This dynamic event brought together high-impact research, transformative educational practices, and pioneering innovations in nursing. Innovate 2025 united two of the University of Alberta’s most esteemed events—the Shirley Stinson Research Day and the Olive Yonge Teaching and Learning Day—into one influential platform. The conference featured thought-provoking keynote addresses, cutting-edge scholarly presentations, and meaningful opportunities for networking and collaboration. Robust nursing education—grounded in rigorous academic preparation and experiential learning— is essential for preparing future nurses to address the complex social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health. Building a diverse, highly educated nursing workforce is critical to addressing the social determinants of health and dismantling structural racism and implicit bias. Cutting-edge nursing science, including nursing education research, is key to improving patient outcomes, improving the health of communities, and shaping the future of health care systems. Central to the faculty’s mission is the cultivation of an inclusive and vibrant academic environment that fosters open, courageous, and rigorous inquiry. Innovate 2025 exemplified this goal by engaging the full spectrum of the nursing community, including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows in advancing nursing research and transforming educational practices. I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the Innovate 2025 conference organizing committee, who was deeply committed to creating an inspiring venue for the presentation of innovative ideas to propel nursing: Amber Holder, How Lee, Dr. Elisavet Papathanosglou, Dr. Kara Schick Makaroff, and Kristin Zelyck. Dans le cadre d’une collaboration spéciale entre Quality Advancement in Nursing Education - Avancées en formation infirmière et la Faculté des sciences infirmières de la University of Alberta, nous sommes ravis de présenter une sélection de résumés évalués par des pairs et présentés lors de la conférence inaugurale Innovate 2025 qui s’est tenue en avril. Nous avons discuté avec la doyenne, Shannon Scott, Ph. D., de sa vision de cette conférence et de ses retombées. Une formation en sciences infirmières de qualité, fondée sur une préparation universitaire rigoureuse et un apprentissage expérientiel, est essentielle pour préparer les infirmières et infirmiers de demain à maitriser les facteurs sociaux, économiques et environnementaux complexes qui influencent la santé. Former une main-d’oeuvre infirmière diversifiée et hautement qualifiée est nécessaire si l’on veut se pencher sur les déterminants sociaux de la santé et démanteler le racisme structurel et les préjugés implicites. La science infirmière de pointe, y compris la recherche en formation en sciences infirmières, est déterminante pour l’amélioration des résultats de santé pour les patients et les communautés en plus de façonner l’avenir des systèmes de soins de santé. Au coeur de la mission de la Faculté se trouve le développement d’un environnement universitaire inclusif et dynamique, propice à une réflexion ouverte, courageuse et rigoureuse. Innovate 2025 a illustré cet objectif en mobilisant l’ensemble de la communauté infirmière, notamment les étudiantes et étudiants de premier et deuxième cycles, les membres des corps professoraux et les groupes de recherche postdoctoraux, pour faire progresser la recherche en sciences infirmières et transformer les pratiques pédagogiques.
