Histos : The On-Line Journal of Ancient Historiography est une revue internationale, basée à l’Université d’Alberta. Elle publie des articles scientifiques s’inscrivant dans le champ des études anciennes, en plus de traiter de disciplines connexes, comme l’histoire, les études littéraires et les sciences des religions. La revue se spécialise dans l’étude de textes historiques et biographiques issus de la Grèce antique et de Rome (c. 400 avant notre ère – c. 600 de notre ère), mais s’intéresse également aux autres traditions historiographiques prémodernes, notamment judaïque et médiévale. Histos propose des études de haute qualité, révisées avec rigueur par les pair·es et destinées essentiellement à un lectorat universitaire. Une dizaine d’articles, comptant entre 5 000 et 20 000 mots ou plus, paraît chaque année, ainsi qu’une vingtaine de comptes rendus et d’essais critiques. Parmi nos contributeur·trices se trouvent des spécialistes confirmé·es comme émergent·es, œuvrant en Amérique du Nord et à l’international. Depuis son commencement en 1996, Histos a publié seulement en forme numérique, avec libre accès immediat et sans aucun frais de publication.

Politique éditoriale et éthique

Review Process

All research articles in Histos are peer-reviewed through a double-blind process in which neither author nor reviewer is aware of the other's identity. Article editors solicit reviewer reports from recognised experts in the relevant field and make determinations accordingly.

 

Open Access Statement

Histos is a diamond open access journal that provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports the greater global exchange of knowledge.

Authors will never be charged to submit or publish a manuscript through Histos, and all articles published since 2024 will be made available under an  International Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0),  as indicated in the Copyright Notice section under the Submissions page.

 


Digital Archiving Policy

This journal is archived with the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) Preservation Network and Scholars Portal Journals. These programs offer a decentralized and distributed preservation, perpetual access, and preservation of the authentic original version of the content.

 


Self-Archiving Policy


Authors are encouraged to deposit the published version in an institutional / disciplinary repository immediately on publication. Pre-print versions posted online should include a citation and link to the final published version in Histos as soon as the issue is available; post-print versions (including the final publisher's PDF) should include a citation and link to the journal's website.

Research Misconduct Policy

The editors of Histos will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication, among others. In the event that the editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct relating to a published article in their journal, the editor shall follow the Committee on Publication Ethics guidelines in dealing with allegations.
