Editor’s Introduction

Holly Morgan and Barbara Parker, the guest editors for this special issue, first approached CuiZine with the idea of a special issue focusing on contributions by early career researchers and students around 2020. The idea aligned with the journal’s mandate, including showcasing research produced across the country and supporting newer cohorts of researchers in their endeavours. It is obvious that both Morgan and Parker are passionate educators and researchers, and the enthusiasm they brought to this project is discernible throughout the issue. I am proud that CuiZine now has a dedicated issue to student work and I hope readers will be encouraged by how innovative, engaged, and active these early career researchers are. The issue addresses many contemporary issues within Food Studies and the Canadian foodscape more broadly, so I have no doubt readers will appreciate the timeliness of these student contributions. I wish to thank all the contributors that made this issue possible, including Holly Morgan and Barbara Parker, the issue’s guest editors; all the early career stage and student contributors; the issue’s translator Gauvain Richy, who aptly rendered nuanced and complex terms in the translated texts (here, a nod to the value of human translation!); and as well as you, our esteemed readers, whose engagement with CuiZine make all the work worthwhile.
