Résumé
Dans cet article, l’auteure étudie la pratique de l’autoportrait initiée par Denis Vanier avec Hôtel Putama (1991) et poursuivie dans les livres suivants (Une Inca sauvage comme le feu, poèmes biologiques ; L’hôtel brûlé ; Je ne reviendrai plus ; Le fond du désir ; Renier son sang). Traversant une série d’identifications et de mutations, le sujet endosse finalement l’« aura hermaphrodite » et s’allie la mort en vertu de son pouvoir ressuscitant. De plus en plus orienté vers le corps-autre, et mettant en jeu l’extérieur et le fond du portrait vers quoi le geste de l’autoportraitiste semble pointer, l’autoportrait se mue en portrait et se donne comme lieu de croisement des regards. C’est ainsi qu’en prenant en charge sa propre figuration, le sujet s’affranchit du regard de l’autre et échappe au cadre de la représentation.
Abstract
In this article, the author studies the practice of the self-portrait undertaken by Denis Vanier with Hôtel Putama (1991) and pursued in his following books (Une Inca sauvage comme le feu, poèmes biologiques; L’hôtel brûlé; Je ne reviendrai plus; Le fond du désir; Renier son sang). Going through a series of identifications and mutations, the subject finally takes on a “hermaphrodite aura” and makes an ally of death by virtue of his ability to resurrect. Increasingly oriented towards the body-as-other, and involving both the outside and the background of the portrait (towards which the self-portraitist seems to be pointing), the self-portrait becomes a portrait and establishes itself as the place where glances meet. In taking charge of his own representation, the subject frees himself from the gaze of the other and escapes from the framework of representation.
