Résumé
Le ministère de l’Éducation du Québec a entrepris de réformer les programmes d’études et il prescrit qu’une approche culturelle préside à l’enseignement de toutes les matières (Gouvernement du Québec, 1997). Toutefois, entre la prescription et l’application de celle-ci réside une multiplicité de significations qui amènent les enseignants de français au secondaire à s’interroger : que pourrait signifier une approche culturelle appliquée à leur discipline ? Grâce à l’analyse de discours tenus sur la langue et la culture en lien avec l’éducation, il est possible de cerner six dimensions constitutives de l’approche culturelle.
Abstract
The Quebec Ministry of Education has undertaken a reform of programmes of study and is prescribing that a cultural approach prevail in the teaching of all subjects (Gouvernement du Québec, 1997). Between this prescription and its application, however, lie a multiplicity of meanings, and high school teachers of French are asking themselves what a cultural approach would mean when applied to their discipline. Analysis of the discourse surrounding language and culture in relation to education makes it possible to identify six constituent dimensions of a cultural approach.
