Abstract
International management is undergoing a major paradigm shift, replacing the liability of outsidership with the liability of foreignness, making exclusion from networks the central obstacle to cross-border expansion. This conclusion from the dossier ‘Internationalisation of Networks and Networks of Internationalisation’ shows how regional integration, digitalisation, exogenous shocks and the rise of emerging economies are dissolving the local/international boundary in favour of multi-scale network configurations. Networks are therefore establishing themselves as an autonomous mode of governance and a constitutive phenomenon of contemporary internationalisation.
