Abstract
During the COVID-19 pandemic, people sought social support in online spaces dedicated to health. This article aims to understand how members of a Brazilian Facebook group asked for and offered social support through online narratives constructed in their interactions during the pandemic. Based on an ethnographic approach and the Small Stories Research, we have shown that social support operates through Narrative Stancetaking and Second Stories. In the latter, prescriptions are constructed as moral positions that should be adopted to manage anxiety following a COVID-19 diagnosis. This research provides reflections on the functioning of social support online.
