L’intime comme objectif (comment filmer la politique ?)

Résumé

Ayant pour point de départ une démarche de recherche-création, cet article a pour sujet le rapport entre cinéma, politique et intimité. En s’inspirant des réflexions de Foessel (2008) sur les liens entre les sphères intime et publique, il suggère que le passage par l’intime est un chemin privilégié pour mettre en image la politique. Il s’appuie pour ce faire sur l’analyse de trois films. D’abord, Dans le laboratoire (Demers, 2023), le point de départ de cette réflexion, puis Pater (Cavalier, 2011), à travers lequel sont abordées les questions de la tactilité et du rapport entre fiction et réalité, et finalement Chronique d’une crise (Larochelle, 2024), où l’on insiste sur les dimensions antagonique et affective du cinéma politique.

Abstract

Inspired by a research creation process, this article discusses the relationship between cinema, politics and intimacy. Based on the work of Foessel (2008) concerning the links between the intimate and the public spheres, it suggests that intimacy is a privileged path to bring politics to the screen. To this end, it is based on the analysis of three films. First, Dans le laboratoire (Demers, 2023), starting point of the present text, then Pater (Cavalier, 2011), through which questions of tactility and the relationship between fiction and reality are addressed, and finally Chronique d’une crise (Larochelle, 2024), through which the antagonistic and affective dimensions of political cinema are highlighted.
