Se basant sur une recherche empirique faite auprès de 50 groupes alternatifs en santé, dont dix-neuf en santé mentale, l'auteur propose une explication socio-économique du développement de ces groupes. Il développe aussi un nouveau concept susceptible d'expliquer les effets produits par l'organisation capitaliste de la production et de la consommation des soins de santé.

SUMMARY

On the basis of an empirical study of 50 alternative style health groups, including 19 working in mental health, the author proposes a socio-economical explanation for their development. He also develops a new concept which attempts to explain the effects produced by capitalist organization of the production and consumption of health treatment.
