Abstract
The purpose of this research is to update the links between motivation and school well-being. To do so, we relied on three motivation theories that have strong conceptual connections: self-efficacy, achievement goal and academic interest. We tested a model where the effect of self-efficacy is mediated by two approach goals (learning and performance) and academic interest. The model fits the data well, and path analysis indicates that the learning approach goal will be the only mediator between self-efficacy and interest. Consistent with our hypothesis, the learning approach goal has a positive effect on well-being while the effect of the performance approach goal on well-being is negative. We also note that among the variables taken into consideration, it is academic interest that is most strongly related to the student’s well-being.
