Resumen
Este artículo analiza los personajes negros de una novela breve de Cervantes (El celoso extremeño) y dos de Zayas (El prevenido engañado y Tarde llega el desengaño). Por un lado, examinaré los rasgos estereotípicos de estos personajes. Por otro lado, mi tesis central es que estas novelas también admiten lecturas antirracistas. Los esclavos literarios de Cervantes y Zayas no son víctimas desvalidas, sino seres con dignidad, agudeza y determinación para alcanzar sus fines. Dado que este enfoque es aplicable a otros textos, propongo una revisión de la literatura sobre la esclavitud en el mundo hispánico global del siglo XVII.

Abstract
This article analyses the black characters of one novella by Cervantes (El celoso extremeño) and two by Zayas (El prevenido engañado and Tarde llega el desengaño). On the one hand, I will examine the stereotypical features of these characters. On the other hand, my main thesis is that these novellas also allow anti-racist readings. Cervantes’ and Zayas’ literary slaves are not helpless victims, but rather characters with dignity, wit, and determination to achieve their ends. Since these findings are applicable to other texts, I propose a revision of literature on slavery in the global Hispanic world of the seventeenth century.
