RÉSUMÉ

Cet article s'efforce de mettre en évidence que l'approfondissement du processus d'intégration européenne ne peut à terme faire l'économie d'une régulation sociale construite. D s'agit donc de souligner la forte liaison entre protection sociale et État-nation, puis de souligner les conséquences de la mise en place de l'Union économique et monétaire (UEM) pour la protection sociale. Dans un troisième temps, la question de la pérennité de l'UEM est posée en relation avec les modalités de la régulation sociale potentielle.

ABSTRACT

This article attempts to show that the intensifying process of European integration cannot in the end do without structured social regulation. The text therefore stresses, first, the strong connection between the social safety net and the nation-state, and second, the consequences of the setting up of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) with regard to the social safety net. Thirdly, the author poses the question of the durability of the EMU in relation to potential social regulation strategies.

RESUMEN

Este articulo se propone demostrar que la profundizaciôn del proceso de integraciôn europea no puede evitar la construcciôn de una nueva regulation social. Es necesario, por lo tanto, subrayar el fuerte lazo existente entre la protecciôn social y el Estado-naciôn, para después subrayar las consecuencias de la institution de la Union Econômica y Monetaria (UEM) sobre la protecciôn social. En un tercer momento, el articulo plantea el interrogante de la perennidad de la UEM en su relation con las modalidades potenciales de la regulation social.
