Résumé
Ce document étudie les apports et les limites de l’Afrique du Sud en matière de maintien de la paix. L’Afrique du Sud, première puissance économique et militaire africaine et pays émergent, joue un rôle diplomatique important en Afrique, le continent qui accueille le plus grand nombre des actions de maintien de la paix. Ses capacités et son leadership lui ont permis de remorquer des processus de médiation, de mobiliser des intervenants extérieurs, de se mettre en première ligne dans certaines opérations de maintien de la paix, renforçant ainsi sa crédibilité dans la gestion des conflits. Toutefois, depuis quelque temps, l’engagement de l’Afrique du Sud, qui présentait déjà beaucoup de faiblesses, tant en termes de capacités que de leadership conforme à sa réputation et à son statut, semble connaître une perte de vitesse. En revanche, on note une montée en puissance d’une Realpolitik, qui suscite beaucoup de critiques.

Abstract
This document looks at the contributions and limitations of South Africa for peacekeeping. As the top economic and military power in Africa, and an emerging country, South Africa plays a major diplomatic role in Africa, the continent with the most peacekeeping operations. Its abilities and leadership enable it to lead mediation processes, bring together external stakeholders, be on the front lines of certain peacekeeping operations, enhancing its credibility in managing conflicts. However, for some time, South Africa’s commitment, which was already exhibiting certain weaknesses both in terms of abilities and leadership with regard to its reputation and status, seems to be losing momentum. At the same time, we have seen a rise in Realpolitik power, which has drawn considerable criticism.

Resumen
En este documento se analizan los aportes y los limites de Sudáfrica en materia de mantenimiento de la paz. Sudáfrica, primera potencia económica y militar africana y país emergente, juega un rol diplomático importante en África, el continente donde se realizan la mayor cantidad de acciones de manteniendo de la paz. Sus capacidades y su liderazgo le han permitido liderar esos procesos de mediación, así como movilizar agentes externos, poniéndose en primera línea ciertas operaciones de mantenimiento de paz y reforzando así su credibilidad en la gestión de conflictos. Sin embargo, desde hace un cierto tiempo, el compromiso de Sudáfrica presenta ciertas debilidades, tanto en términos de capacidad como de liderazgo conforme a su reputación et su status, que parece conocer una desaceleración. Por el contrario, se observa un ascenso de la Realpolitik, que suscita numerosas críticas.
