Résumé
Le présent article fait le point sur la trajectoire de Louis Hémon comme écrivain d’une oeuvre qu’a occultée en quelque sorte son oeuvre maîtresse, Maria Chapdelaine. Cette oeuvre sera abordée en quatre étapes qui répondent au titre adopté : le journaliste et le chroniqueur sportif passionné ; le nouvelliste, traducteur de la réalité de son époque ; le romancier entêté et sa vision du monde ; enfin, l’écrivain intimiste, combien énigmatique, à l’image de sa célèbre héroïne.
Abstract
This article reviews Louis Hémon’s trajectory as the author of an oeuvre in many ways overshadowed by his masterpiece, Maria Chapdelaine. His work is discussed here in four parts corresponding to the title adopted: the journalist and passionate sports columnist; the short story writer, translator of the reality of his time; the stubborn novelist and his vision of the world; finally, the intimate writer, as enigmatic as his famous heroine.
