Abstract
During World War II the original Associate Committee on Medical Research and three additional committees (each associated with a branch of the military) of the National Research Council organized wartime medical research. The war provided an opportunity for the NRC to demonstrate the utility of medical research and the ability of Canadians to make significant contributions to the allied research effort.
Résumé
Durant la seconde guerre mondiale, le premier Comité associé de recherches médicales ainsi que trois autres comités du Conseil national de recherches du Canada (chacun associé à l’une des armes) ont mis sur pied un programme de recherche médicale relié aux besoins de la guerre. Le CNR avait ainsi l’occasion de démontrer la pertinence de la recherche médicale et la capacité des chercheurs canadiens à fournir un apport significatif à l’effort de recherche des alliés.
