Résumé
Une entreprise sociale type se dessine à travers cette étude : elle prend le statut d’une association de la loi de 1901 le plus souvent insérée dans un réseau ou une fédération. Cette innovation s’inscrit dans le secteur des services à des personnes, souvent en difficulté d’insertion, et n’est pas financièrement autonome. Elle contribue à définir un nouveau métier dans le champ de l’intervention sociale ou culturelle. Elle répond à un besoin d’intérêt général et a généralement pour cadre géographique l’espace local. Dans l’ensemble des entreprises d’économie sociale, l’entreprise sociale présente quelques spécificités qui questionnent certains principes « historiques » : elle est rarement autonome sur le plan financier et ne se situe pas aussi franchement sur des marchés privés. En revanche, elle réexamine des questions classiques parfois délaissées par de nombreuses entreprises d’économie sociale, comme la conception de métiers nouveaux, l’engagement bénévole ou l’organisation du travail.
Abstract
The classic example of a social enterprise is drawn in this study. It has the legal form of a non-profit organization and is usually part of a network or federation. This innovative type of enterprise is found in services for the disadvantaged and is not financially independent. The social enterprise has been helping to define a new profession in the area of social and cultural work. It fulfills a public-interest need and its geographical context is generally local. Among socialeconomy enterprises, the social enterprise presents some specific features that challenge certain historic principles, eg it is rarely financially independent and is not as clearly part of the private sector. On the other hand, the social enterprise re-examines fundamental questions sometimes ignored by many social-economy enterprises, such as the creation of new kinds of occupations, voluntary work, and the organization of work.
