L’irréductible résistance au concept de l’aliénation parentale The tenacious resistance to the concept of parental alienation

Résumé

Depuis son introduction dans le vocabulaire psychologique, le concept de l’aliénation parentale soulève une solide résistance aussi bien chez les cliniciens que dans le public en général. Ce concept renvoie au rejet de l’un de ses parents que manifeste un enfant à la suite, souvent, de leur séparation et ce, sans raison valable. L’auteur propose l’idée que la résistance au concept tient à son association avec celui des fausses allégations d’abus sexuel. On y soupçonnerait une nouvelle version d’un présumé déni des abus sexuels intrafamiliaux.

Abstract

Since its introduction, the concept of parental alienation has met with a solid resistance from clinicians as well as the general public. The concept refers to the situation where a child, often after parental separation, rejects one of his parents without justifiable reason. The author proposes the idea that this resistance has to do with the association that exists between this concept and the one concerning false allegations of child sexual abuse. The opponents of the concept suspect it to be a new version of a presumed denial of intra-familial sexual abuse.
