Critiques et perspectives de la recherche en entrepreneuriat Comment sortir du labyrinthe

Résumé

Dans cet article, nous critiquons la pratique actuelle de la recherche germanophone en entrepreneuriat et discutons des possibilités d’une réorientation. En nous appuyant sur un bref historique de cette recherche en entrepreneuriat, nous développons six thèses visant à en décrire les faiblesses. Nous montrons pourquoi la recherche en entrepreneuriat n’a pu, à ce jour, s’établir comme une discipline à part entière. Par ailleurs, nous relevons les mécanismes en place dans ce domaine qui empêchent systématiquement les chercheurs d’obtenir des résultats utiles. Nous discutons, enfin, des possibilités d’améliorations progressives et de changements radicaux qui ouvrent des perspectives pour le développement futur d’une recherche féconde sur l’esprit d’entreprise.

Abstract

In this paper, we criticize the current practice in entrepreneurship research and discuss options for a reorientation. Against the backdrop of a brief historical review of research on the entrepreneur and entrepreneurship, we develop six theses on the deficits of current entrepreneurship research. We point out why it has not been possible so far to establish entrepreneurship research as a consistent discipline. Moreover, we identify the mechanisms active in large parts of current entrepreneurship research which systematically constrain researchers in delivering useful results. As directions for the future development of entrepreneurship research, we discuss both different possibilities for incremental adjustment and a radical reorientation.

Resumen

En este artículo se critica la práctica actual en la investigación de la iniciativa empresarial. Se trata también de las posibilidades para una reorientación. Con el telón de fondo de una breve reseña histórica de la investigación sobre la iniciativa empresarial y el espíritu empresarial, desarrollamos seis tesis sobre el déficit actual en dicho tema. Se señala por qué no ha sido posible hasta hoy establecer esa investigación como una disciplina coherente. Además, identificamos los mecanismos que actúan en gran parte en ella y que limitan sistemáticamente investigadores en la entrega de resultados útiles. Como orientaciones para el futuro desarrollo en la investigación de la iniciativa empresarial, se discuten tanto las diferentes posibilidades para el ajuste gradual como para una reorientación radical.

Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag wird die bisherige Praxis in der Entrepreneurshipforschung kritisiert und es werden Möglichkeiten der Neuausrichtung diskutiert. Vor dem Hintergrund einer historischen Betrachtung der Entwicklung des Untersuchungsgegenstands „Unternehmer/Unternehmertum“ werden sechs Thesen zu Defiziten der aktuellen Entrepreneurshipforschung präsentiert. Es wird aufgezeigt, warum es bislang nicht gelang die Entrepreneurshipforschung als einheitliche Disziplin zu etablieren. Darüber hinaus werden Mechanismen identifiziert, die in weiten Teilen dieser Fachrichtung verbreitetet sind und in der Forschungspraxis systematisch die Erarbeitung brauchbarer Ergebnisse verstellen. Als Perspektiven für die zukünftige Entwicklung einer fruchtbareren Entrepreneurshipforschung werden einerseits Möglichkeiten einer inkrementellen Adjustierung und andererseits eine radikale Neuausrichtung diskutiert.
