Résumé
Le principal objectif de cet article est d’identifier les différentes formes que peuvent prendre le partage et la circulation de ressources familiales au Québec entre 1840 et 1920. Trois objectifs secondaires structurent également le propos : affiner notre compréhension de l’éventail des économies familiales durant cette période ; révéler les circonstances dans lesquelles les familles pouvaient constituer le site de transactions et de conventions, formelles ou informelles, d’une grande intensité et complexité ; éclairer des rapports de force intrafamiliaux moins souvent analysés, notamment les tiraillements pouvant affecter les fratries au sujet des avoirs domestiques.
Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to identify the various forms that could take the sharing and circulation of family resources in Quebec between 1840 and 1920. There are three secondary objectives : to refine our understanding of the range of family economies during this period ; to reveal the circumstances in which families could be the site of highly intense and complex transactions and agreements, both formal and informal ; and to shed light on less frequently analyzed intra-family power relations, particularly the tensions that could emerge between siblings over domestic assets.
