Résumé
L'analyse discursive appliquée dans cette étude cherche à dévoiler le rapport entre le social (la propriété de la terre) et le littéraire (le poème en tant que quête revendicatrice d'une identité). Le témoignage du gaucho Martín Fierro y est confronté à l'émergence de la violence (mise à mort du Noir). L'image de l'abattoir (matadero) en tant que métaphore épistémocritique révèle ainsi l'inscription de la violence dans l'écriture de la ville lettrée; il s'agit d'une image qui subsume sous une même logique le meurtre du Noir et la politique d'extinction systématique de l'Indien en Argentine. L'élément picaresque, selon l'hypothèse de l'auteur, y joue un rôle essentiel dans la mesure où il permet d'entériner le refus de l'autre à partir d'une pratique culturelle profondément enracinée dans la tradition hispanique.
Abstract
The discursive analysis applied in this study is intended to reveal the relationship between the social (the ownership of land) and the literary (the poem as quest for identity). The testimony of the gaucho Martín Fierro is brought face to face here with the emergence of violence (the killing of the black man). The slaughterhouse (matadero) as an epistemological metaphor thus underscores the inscription of violence in the literary expression of the city: it is an image that subsumes under the same logic the killing of the black man and the politics of systematic extinction of the Argentine Indians. The picaresque aspect, the author argues, plays an essential role in allowing the refusal of the Other to be identified with a cultural practice deeply-ingrained in the Spanish tradition.
