Résumé
Successivement apprécié, critiqué, et oublié, Raymond Aron a toujours été difficile à classer au sein de la discipline des Relations internationales. Parmi les recensions récentes dont son oeuvre a fait l’objet, celle de Michael Doyle fait une proposition intéressante, en y voyant un réaliste constitutionnaliste. Notre contribution se propose d’approfondir cette piste en montrant qu’Aron est en fait un réaliste néoclassique avant la lettre. Après avoir rappelé les points communs qu’Aron partage avec le réalisme classique de Morgenthau et le néoréalisme de Waltz, cet article démontre les affinités à la fois ontologiques et épistémologiques entre l’internationaliste français et les réalistes néoclassiques nord-américains qui ignorent qu’ils ignorent Aron.

Abstract
Neglected since his death after having been all at once criticized and hailed during his lifetime, Raymond Aron’s approach challenges any easy classification within the discipline. An interesting attempt has been proposed by Michael Doyle, who considers Aron to be a constitutionalist realist. While basically agreeing with this proposal, our contribution purports to show that Aron actually was a neo-classical realist before the term was invented. After recalling Aron’s common points with Morgenthau’s classical realism and Waltz’s neo-realism, the article analyses the numerous epistemological and ontological affinities linking the French IR scholar to the contemporary North-American neoclassical realists who ignore that they ignore Aron.

Resumen
Apreciado y criticado en vida, olvidado después de su muerte, Raymond Aron no ha sido nunca fácilmente clasificable dentro de la disciplina de las Relaciones Internacionales. En un reciente análisis de la obra del maestro francés, Michael Doyle hace una propuesta interesante al considerarlo como un realista constitucionalista. Continuando sobre esta pista, el presente artículo se propone demostrar que Aron es en realidad un realista neoclásico vanguardista. Después de hacer un recuento de los puntos que Aron comparte con el realismo clásico de Morgenthau y el neorrealismo de Waltz, el artículo muestra las numerosas afinidades ontológicas y epistemológicas que existen entre la visión de Aron y los realistas neoclásicos norteamericanos que ignoran que ignoran a Aron.
