Abstract
Using a theoretical thought process, we analysed online mediation of the book using recommender algorithms. We developed a communicational approach that examines the mediation process. We attempted to circumscribe the recommender algorithm and to describe its function. This allowed us to identify the main challenges when using the recommender algorithm during online mediation of the book, namely cultural diversity and the grouping of individuals according to identities and numeric communities.
