Résumé
Depuis environ 500 ans, les canaux formels de communication sont, dans une large mesure, basés sur l’imprimé. La société est maintenant appelée à passer de l’imprimé à un système d’édition complètement électronique dans lequel les ordinateurs et les télécommunications seront majoritairement utilisés dans tout le processus de communication.
L’auteure analyse l’impact des nouvelles technologies sur les bibliothèques et jette un regard prospectif sur la bibliothèque du futur et le rôle du bibliothécaire à l’ère de l’électronique.
Abstract
For the past 500 years or so, the formal channels of communication have largely depended on the printed matter. Society is now destined to move from the printed matter to an electronic system of information in which computers and telecommunications will be primarily used in the whole communication process.
The author analyzes the impact of new technologies on libraries and offers a prospective view on the library of the future and on the role of the librarian in the electronic age.
Resumen
Desde hace unos 500 años, las vías formales de comunicación están basadas en gran parte en textos impresos. De aquí en adelante, la sociedad tendrá necesariamente que pasar del texto impreso a un sistema de edición totalmente electrónico en el cual las computadoras y las telecomunicaciones se utilizarán en mayor parte en todo el proceso de comunicación.
La autora analiza el impacto que tendrán las nuevas tecnologías en las bibliotecas y echa un vistazo prospectivo a la biblioteca del porvenir y al papel del bibliotecario en la era electrónica.
