Abstract
Inclusive education in private schools remains an under-researched area, particularly within the Caribbean. This qualitative single-case study explores the perspectives of 27 purposively selected stakeholders—including educators, parents, students, and support staff—at a private primary school in urban Jamaica. Through thematic analysis, key barriers to effective inclusion were identified: inconsistent communication, limited staff capacity, inadequate school—community partnerships, and insufficient human and physical resources. Despite these challenges, stakeholders expressed a strong commitment to improving inclusive practices, which are examined in this article. The findings underscore the importance of grounding inclusive education policy and practice in the lived experiences of those directly involved. While not generalizable, the study offers valuable insights that can inform inclusive education efforts in both private and public schools within comparable contexts.

Résumé
L’éducation inclusive dans les écoles privées reste un domaine peu étudié, en particulier dans les Caraïbes. Cette étude qualitative de cas unique explore les points de vue de 27 parties prenantes sélectionnées à dessein, notamment des éducateurs, des parents, des élèves et du personnel de soutien, dans une école primaire privée située dans une zone urbaine de la Jamaïque. Grâce à une analyse thématique, les principaux obstacles à une inclusion efficace ont été identifiés : une communication inconstante, une capacité limitée du personnel, des partenariats insuffisants entre l’école et la communauté, ainsi qu’un manque de ressources humaines et matérielles. Malgré ces défis, les parties prenantes ont exprimé leur ferme engagement à améliorer les pratiques inclusives, que nous examinons dans cet article. Les conclusions soulignent l’importance d’ancrer les politiques et les pratiques d’éducation inclusive dans le vécu des personnes directement concernées. Bien que non généralisable, cette étude offre des pistes précieuses pour éclairer les efforts en matière d’éducation inclusive dans les écoles privées et publiques, dans des contextes comparables.
