Abstract
This study investigated the association between sensation seeking trait and perception of the intensity and valence of facial emotion in others, as well as an individual’s arousal response to these social stimuli. Seventy-seven young adults completed measures of sensation seeking and rated how they perceived the intensity and valence of positive, negative, and neutral facial expressions as well as their emotional arousal response to these social stimuli. Higher sensation seeking was associated with higher perceived intensity for neutral facial expression and with higher perceived arousal for positive, negative, and neutral emotions.
