Résumé
Le protagoniste de L’enfant chargé de songes (1992) d’Anne Hébert a fait un voyage de Québec à Paris, qui contribuera à l’évolution de son identité personnelle et culturelle. Le titre du roman annonce déjà que les « songes » vont jouer un rôle primordial tant sur le plan thématique que sur le protocole de lecture. La combinaison originale du réalisme spatio-temporel avec l’onirisme contribuera à la polysémie du texte. L’analyse sera d’abord concentrée sur le début du roman : l’incipit in medias res, les topoi, le protocole de lecture, la focalisation, la présentation successive des personnages et la thématisation. L’analyse de la fin du roman montrera ensuite que l’effet du voyage identitaire sur la personnalité de Julien permettra des interprétations variées .
Abstract
The protagonist of Anne Hébert’s Burden of Dreams (1992) goes on a journey from Quebec to Paris that contributes to the evolution of his personal and cultural identity. The novel’s title already tells us that “dreams” will play a key role both on a thematic level and in shaping the reading protocol. An original combination of spatio-temporal realism and oneirism contributes to the text’s polysemy. Analysis focuses initially on the beginning of the novel: the incipit in medias res, the topoi, the reading protocol, focalisation, the successive presentation of characters, and thematisation. Analysis of the end of the novel shows that the effect of the journey of identity on Julien’s personality admits of a variety of interpretations.

El protagonista de L’enfant chargé de songes (1992), de Anne Hébert ha hecho un viaje desde la Ciudad de Quebec hasta París que contribuirá a la evolución de su identidad personal y cultural. El título de la novela anuncia que los “sueños” van a desempeñar un papel primordial, tanto a nivel temático como sobre el protocolo de lectura. La combinación original del realismo espacio-temporal con el onirismo contribuirá a la polisemia del texto. En primer lugar, el análisis se concentrará en el principio de la novela: el incipit in medias res, los topoi, el protocolo de lectura, la focalización, la presentación sucesiva de los personajes y la tematización. El análisis del final de la novela mostrará luego que el efecto del viaje identitario sobre la personalidad de Julián dará lugar a interpretaciones variadas.
