Heureux comme Dieu en exégèse?

RÉSUMÉ

Occupée d'écrits que Dieu remplit marge-à-marge, Pexégèse biblique parle-t-elle forcément de lui? L'ambiguïté factuelle de la réponse suscite cette question insolite. L'auteure distingue entre omniprésence, absence et présence de Dieu en exégèse; entre Dieu de la Bible, Dieu de l'exégèse et Dieu familier des croyants; entre exégèse et grâce. Elle souhaite un rajustement de la démarche exégétique qui, par-delà son impressionnante activité heuristique, revienne à la respiration du texte et lui laisse le soin de parler de Dieu, si et quand l'acte de lecture le requiert. Cependant, le Dieu de la Bible, éclairé par le Dieu de l'exégèse, peut-il entrer de plain-pied dans notre époque et pouvons-nous, sans plus, le rejoindre sans quitter la nôtre? Il appartient aussi à l'exégèse d'oeuvrer ici au service de la lecture.

ABSTRACT

Biblical exegesis is concerned with writings filled from page to page with the presence of God. But does it really speak of him? This unusual question is generated by the factual ambiguity of the response. The author distinguishes between the omnipresence, absence and presence of God in exegesis; between the God of the Bible, the God of exegesis and the God familiar to believers; between exegesis and grace. She proposes that exegesis be reoriented, so that in spite of its impressive heuristic activity it return, if and when the act of reading would require it, to the spirit of the text, allowing it to speak of God. Meanwhile, is it possible for the God of the Bible, enlightened by the God of exegesis, to enter our era on an equal footing? Can we, with no other means, reach out to God without leaving our own era? This also is a field where exegesis can render service to the act of reading.
