Résumé
Cette recherche s’attache à comprendre en profondeur comment et pourquoi un méga-événement sportif peut influencer l’image touristique perçue de la ville hôte dans le contexte particulier des Jeux olympiques (JO) de Londres en 2012, via le concept de transfert d’image. En cohérence avec les objectifs exploratoires, cette recherche de nature qualitative repose sur l’analyse d’une série d’entretiens semi-directifs réalisés auprès des résidents et touristes dans la période précédant les JO en 2012. Son apport essentiel est d’affirmer la pertinence du concept de transfert d’image pour étudier l’influence de l’image de l’événement sur l’image touristique de la ville hôte. Les résultats suggèrent aussi que l’image de l’événement est en mesure d’affecter non seulement les associations existantes, mais également de créer de nouvelles associations à l’image touristique de la ville hôte.
