La malprise des pères Mistaken fathers

Résumé

Cet article est issu de travaux effectués au laboratoire de Recherche sur la Paternité fondé par l'auteure et il constitue une introduction aux questions concernant la paternité. À partir de l'hypothèse de l'existence d'une crise identifïcatoire normale chez l'homme pendant la période qui entoure la naissance de l'enfant, il indique des éléments qui y réactivent des conflits intra-psychiques. Il souligne la nécessité de la reconnaissance de la problématique propre aux pères et suggère l'influence de la représentation du père liée aux contextes historique, social et culturel québécois sur la résolution de la crise.

SUMMARY

This article is an outcome of studies carried out in the laboratory of Research on Fatherhood, founded by the author, and it constitutes an introduction to questions related to fatherhood. Starting with the hypothesis of the existence of a normal identification crisis in the father during the period of the child's birth, the author identifies elements of that crisis that will reactivate intra-psychical conflicts. He underlines the need to recognize the problems related to fathers and suggests that the representation for the father along with its historical, social and cultural context has an influence in the crisis resolution.
