Lien social et développement économique. L’économie sociale au bas-Saint-Laurent

Résumé

Cet article analyse des données inédites produites lors de la réalisation d’un portrait de l’économie sociale au Bas-Saint-Laurent et qui décrivent des pratiques innovatrices dans le champ économique et social. Dans un premier temps, nous remettons en perspective la distinction, voire l’opposition, classique entre communauté et société. Les limites de cette distinction et la crise de la modernité et des liens sociaux nous amènent sur le terrain de l’émergence de nouvelles formes de liens sociaux ou communautaires. Puis, nous décrivons comment l’économie sociale produit elle-même du lien social et économique. Finalement, les pratiques contemporaines d’économie sociale sont envisagées comme le terreau de l’apparition de formes renouvelées de liens économiques, sociaux et politiques.

Abstract

This article focuses on unpublished research data produced when a portrait of the social economy was made of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Québec. These data are of interest in that they describe innovative practices in the economic and social spheres. The actions involved are those of civil society stakeholders whose mobilization contributes to the renewal of economic and social links.

The article is divided into three parts. The first part is centered on the conceptual framework which brings into perspective the classical distinction, or even opposition, between community and society. The boundaries of this distinction, the crisis of modern life and of social ties, bring us into the domain of the possible emergence of new forms of social or community links. In the second part, relying on empirical data, we describe the production process of the social economy itself, from the link between the social and economic spheres. In the third and final part, contemporary practices of the social economy are viewed as forerunners of renewed forms of economic, social and political links.
