Résumé
Les technologies digitales sont-elles devenues le nouvel horizon du sacré ? Le déferlement des nouvelles technologies et leur incorporation rapide dans les pratiques ordinaires des citoyens des sociétés hypermodernes laissent peu de doutes quant à une véritable révolution culturelle (à défaut d’être anthropologique) concomitante d’une digitalisation croissante et à grande échelle du monde actuel. Ces nouvelles technologies, aux formes et aux impacts diversifiés, participent d’un mouvement de fond qui affecte le monde des religions qui se « technologise ». Dans un mouvement parallèle, les technologies font l’objet d’une inattendue sacralisation, en contexte de sécularisation avancée (du moins dans les pays à fort avancement industriel). Les technologies actuelles (l’Internet, l’IA et les robots) accompagnent les métamorphoses des croyances – et jusqu’à un certain point, les suscitent. En nourrissant la réflexion d’exemples précis, cet article posera quelques éléments clés pour une réflexion autour des rapports entre croyances et technologies, à l’époque actuelle.

Abstract
Have digital technologies become the new horizon of the sacred? The flood of new technologies and their rapid incorporation into the ordinary practices of citizens in hypermodern societies leaves little doubt that a genuine cultural (if not anthropological) revolution is taking place, concomitant with the growing and massive digitalization of today’s world. These new technologies, and the diverse forms and impacts they assume, partake on a global movement affecting the world of religions, that appear increasingly "technologized". In a parallel movement, technologies are becoming subjected to an unexpected process of sacralization, in a context of advanced secularization (at least in countries with a high level of industrial advancement). Contemporary technologies (the Internet, AI and robots) are experiencing profound metamorphoses in the realm of beliefs - and, to a certain extent, they generate them. Drawing on specific examples, this paper will expose some key elements to prolong the discussion on the relationship between belief and technology in the present day.
