Réciprocité et échange Reciprocity and Exchange

Résumé

Cette réflexion tente de systématiser la conception analytique que l’on se fait des termes d’échange et de réciprocité. De cette reconstruction se dégage notamment l’importance de distinguer deux éléments. D’une part, les niveaux de société auxquels se réfèrent les concepts de réciprocité et d’échange, à savoir le niveau microsociologique des relations entre les personnes ou celui de l’action et de l’interprétation collective. D’autre part, le type de rationalité qui induit l’échange ou l’acte réciproque. L’analyse met ainsi en évidence que c’est au niveau sociétal de production d’une solidarité impersonnelle qu’il conviendrait de mener davantage de recherches théoriques et empiriques.

Abstract

This article is an attempt to systematize our analytical understanding of the terms "reciprocity" and "exchange." This work shows the importance of distinguishing two elements. The first element is the level that the concepts of reciprocity and exchange refer to, i.e., the micro-sociological level of interaction among individuals or the level of collective action and interpretation. The second element is the type of rationality that induces the exchange or reciprocal act. The analysis reveals that more theoretical and empirical research is needed on the societal level of impersonal solidarity.
