Miguel Mármol, aspirante a mártir marxista: Testimonio y verdad en Miguel Mármol (1972), de Roque Dalton

Resumen

Este trabajo analiza el testimonio Miguel Mármol (1972), de Roque Dalton, como una proclamación de lealtad a un proyecto insurgente en El Salvador. El discurso del narrador construye un modelo de imitación en base a una vida llena de virtudes militantes, que están ligadas al sufrimiento y a la inminencia de la muerte. Como hipótesis, este artículo explora las analogías entre esta retórica, presente en otros testimonios centroamericanos durante la Guerra Fría, y la tradición cristiana del martirio, pues ambos propagan e impulsan verdades morales colectivas a través de modelos de imitación que sufren y mueren por sus creencias.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the testimonio Miguel Mármol (1972), by Roque Dalton, as a proclamation of loyalty to an insurgent project in El Salvador. The narrator’s discourse builds a model of imitation through a life full of militant values, which are intimately tied to suffering and proximity to death. As a hypothesis, this article explores the analogies between this rhetoric, present in other Central American testimonios during the Cold War, and the Christian tradition of martyrdom. Both disseminate and fuel collective moral truths through figures worthy of veneration because they suffer and die for their beliefs.
