Pourquoi penser l’américanité du Québec?

RÉSUMÉ

Après quinze ans de recherche et des publications sur l’américanité du Québec et la prise en compte des réactions qui ont suscité cette réflexion qui remet en cause l’identité politico-culturelle du Québec, un bref bilan paraissait s’imposer. Bilan d’un certain type, qui présente les principaux obstacles à penser l’américanité du Québec, obstacles toujours présents dans la mentalité québécoise ; ce bilan propose des raisons de penser cette américanité.

ABSTRACT

After fifteen years of research and publication on the theme of Quebec "americaness", and considering comments surrounding such reflections which challenge the politico-cultural identity of Quebec, a brief assessment seems warranted. The assessment will consist of a clarification of the principal obstacles confronted when thinking about Quebec's "americaness", obstacles still present in the Quebec "psyche". In short, this assessment proposes some reasons for thinking about this "americaness".
