Résumé
Cet article se penche sur la biographie dramatisée de l’écrivain Marivaux composée par Fulgence Charpentier et présentée sur les ondes de Radio-Collège en 1947. L’enregistrement est aujourd’hui perdu, mais le tapuscrit a été conservé dans un fonds d’archives au Centre de recherche sur les francophonies canadiennes (Université d’Ottawa). Nous montrons que le traitement que réserve Charpentier à la vie de l’auteur français relève de divers processus d’appropriation, à la fois de l’oeuvre marivaudienne et de sa critique. Après avoir reconstitué le corpus qui a pu servir à nourrir cette lecture critique, nous analysons comment Charpentier se l’approprie pour créer un discours biographique cohérent. Or, puisque Marivaux est un dramaturge, la théâtralisation de sa biographie constitue également une forme particulière d’appropriation, dans la mesure où le brouillage de la frontière entre la fiction et le biographique passe, entre autres, par la réécriture et l’adaptation pour la radiodiffusion d’une comédie du xviiie siècle.

Abstract
This article focuses on Fulgence Charpentier’s dramatized biography of the writer Marivaux, which was broadcast in 1947 on Radio-Collège. The recording is now lost, but the transcript has been preserved at the Centre de recherche sur les francophonies canadiennes (University of Ottawa). We argue that Charpentier’s treatment of the French writer’s life is the result of various processes of appropriation, both of Marivaux’s works and of its criticism. After reconstructing the corpus that Charpentier may have used as material, we analyze how he appropriates it to create a coherent biographical discourse. Because Marivaux is a playwright, the dramatization of his biography also offers a particular form of appropriation, since the blurring of the boundary between fiction and biography involves, among other things, the rewriting and adaptation for the radio of an 18th-century comedy.
