Résumé
Les oeuvres dites numériques sont paradoxales et leur description reste un pari difficile à tenir. Elles mettent en jeu des tensions, des différends qui déstabilisent nos habitudes esthétiques. Certains concepts développés par Bergson, et déplacés par nous selon une méthode anachronique peuvent-ils nous permettre de mieux cerner certains régimes de l’interactivité? Le premier fil est celui qui relie le corps à l’action selon une pensée instrumentale singulière au regard de la tradition aristotélicienne. Avec Bergson, la perception n’est pas un phénomène passif, elle est bien au contraire liée à l’action. Percevoir c’est déjà s’engager dans le monde, dans le possible et l’image. Deuxièmement, cette instrumentalité n’est pas déterministe. Il y a un décalage entre les causes et les effets lié à l’intervalle même que nous sommes. La diachronie est un élément constitutif de la perception et de l’action. Enfin, la notion de centre d’indétermination qui définit le vivant n’est-elle pas au coeur d’une esthétique bergsonienne de l’interactivité?
Abstract
Digital works of art are paradoxical and their description remains a difficult task to undertake. They bring into play tensions and divergences that destabilise our aesthetic habits. How can certain concepts developed by Bergson, once displaced following an anachronistic method, help us understand certain regimes of interactivity? The first path would be to link the body to action, following a very particular instrumental thinking, when compared with an Aristotelian tradition. With Bergson, perception is not a passive phenomenon, it is very much linked to action. Perceiving is a way of engaging oneself in the world, in the “possible” and in the “image.” Secondly, this instrumentality is not deterministic. There is always a split between causes and effects, linked to the interval that we are: diachrony is a constitutive element of perception and action. Finally, could the notion of “center of indetermination,” that defines the living being, be at the core of a Bergsonian aesthetic of interactivity?
