Résumé
Les catégories « intuitives » du temps et de l’espace définies par Kant sont, de toute évidence, inscrites de façon indélébile dans les projets humains, particulièrement dans les oeuvres d’art et autres représentations objectifiées de la vie collective. Dans l’optique des études littéraires, s’inspirant d’Einstein et des sciences physiques, Mikhaïl Bakhtine a nommé « chronotope » cette configuration spatio-temporelle. La présente étude s’intéresse aux « images de la ville » dans la poésie québécoise contemporaine, et plus particulièrement à leurs orientations chronotopiques. La première partie propose une discussion des conceptions changeantes du temps et de l’espace dans la culture occidentale, ainsi qu’une étude de la conception bakhtinienne du chronotope. Dans la seconde partie, l’auteur procède à une analyse détaillée de la poésie urbaine de Clément Marchand et de Claude Beausoleil, en mettant l’accent sur la dimension chronotopique de leurs oeuvres, celles-ci étant liées à l’existence urbaine individuelle et collective.
Abstract
The "intuitive" categories of time and space defined by Kant are to all extents and purposes indelibly inscribed in human projects. This is particularly the case with works of art and other objectified representations of collective life. In the purview of literary studies, Mikhail Bakhtin has drawn inspiration from Einstein and the physical sciences to name this spatio-temporal configuration "chronotope". This study is interested in the "images of the city" in contemporary Quebec poetry, and particularly in their chronotopical orientations. This first part discusses the changing conceptions of time and space in Western culture, as well as the Bakhtinian conception of the chronotope. In the second part, the author provides a detailed analysis of Clément Marchand's and Claude Beausoleil's urban poetry, emphasizing the chronotopical dimension of their works, as these are linked to an individual and collective existence.
