Résumé
Ce texte propose une ré-interprétation de la Révolution tranquille qui puisse permettre de comprendre l’appui relativement massif de la population québécoise aux réformes du gouvernement Lesage. En se basant sur une théorie de la société civile comme espace public d’interaction, ce texte tend à démontrer que la Révolution tranquille constitue l’aboutissement d’une réorganisation de la société civile durant le règne duplessiste. Les modifications de la société civile à cette époque se présentent sous plusieurs aspects qui anticipent les grandes transformations des années 1960 : décléricalisation des institutions, renouvellement du discours, et mise en place d’une nouvelle culture politique basée sur les notions d’autonomie et de participation.
Abstract
This article interprets the Quiet Revolution, allowing for an insight into the Quebec population's relatively massive support of the Lesage government reforms. Based on a theory which states that civil society is a public sphere of interaction, this article aims at demonstrating that the Quiet Revolution constitutes the result of a reorganization of civil society during the Duplessis regime. The modifications made to civil society at this time present themselves through different aspects which foresee the major transformations of the 1960's: disassociation of the church from institutions, renewal of language, and setting up a new political culture based on notions of autonomy and participation.
