À Demeure Le lire comme un hôte

Résumé

La lecture est une responsabilité qui exige l’invention d’un lieu de rencontre. Le lecteur est d’abord un hôte. C’est à cette possibilité, c’est à cette exigence que s’ouvre Demeure. Maurice Blanchot, c’est du moins ce que donne à penser le geste extrêmement significatif par lequel Jacques Derrida, en ces pages, reproduit intégralement L’instant de ma mort. Ce serait là le secret de l’archive : Demeure se donnant non seulement à lire comme un témoignage, mais également comme un engagement à garder l’archive comme son secret, hébergeant dès lors L’instant de ma mort comme « l’aveu d’un secret demeuré secret ». Il y va de l’amitié comme d’une responsabilité pour l’avenir.

Abstract

Reading is a responsibility that demands the invention of a place of encounter. The reader is primarily a host. It is to this possibility, to this demand that ­Demeure. Maurice Blanchot opens itself. It is at least what gives us to think the extremely significant act by which Jacques Derrida, within these pages, integrally reproduces L’instant de ma mort. Therein would lie the secret of the archive : Demeure giving itself to be read, not only as a testimony, but also as a commitment to keep the archive as its secret, therefore housing L’instant de ma mort as “l’aveu d’un secret demeuré secret”. It is a question of friendship as responsibility for what is to come.
