Biographical note
Vincent Marquis is an art historian, writer and law student based in Montreal. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Zentrum für Kunst and Urbanistik in Berlin. Until recently, he was the Development Coordinator at the new media arts centre Eastern Bloc, Project Coordinator at Evidence for Democracy, and Officer for South Sudan at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. His main field of research is contemporary visual and political culture, and in particular: the intersection of art and human rights; urban theory and the ‘right to the city’; the theory and practice of activism; and the functions and responsibilities of museums today.

Note biographique
Vincent Marquis est historien de l’art, auteur et étudiant en droit. Il vit à Montréal. Il est présentement chercheur associé au Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik à Berlin. Jusqu’à récemment, il était chargé de développement au centre des arts en nouveaux médias Eastern Bloc, chargé de projets à Evidence for Democracy, et chargé de dossiers pour le Soudan du Sud au Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies. Son principal champ de recherche est la culture visuelle et politique contemporaine, plus précisément la croisée de l’art et des droits de la personne, la théorie urbaine et le « droit à la ville » ; la théorie et la pratique de l’activisme ; les fonctions et responsabilités des musées d’aujourd’hui.
