Résumé
L’orientation atlantique de l’Europe centrale est analysée à travers l’exemple de trois pays : la Hongrie, la Pologne et la République tchèque. L’étude démontre que ce choix, fait juste après la fin de la guerre froide, n’était ni logique ni évident, mais tenait d’une construction politique dont les ressorts furent différents selon les cas considérés. L’atlantisme résultait tant de jeux politiques nationaux que de la formation de liens culturels ou de considérations géopolitiques. Cependant, si les modalités de son inscription à l’agenda furent variées, les raisons qui motivèrent celle-ci furent similaires et correspondaient à des besoins sécuritaires et identitaires. Enfin, cet exemple montre à quel point les passés douloureux ont influencé la construction de la politique étrangère.

Abstract
The Atlantic orientation of Central Europe is analyzed through three country case studies: Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The analysis shows that this ideology, adopted just after the end of the Cold War, was neither logical nor clear-cut, but instead arose from a political construction, the mechanics of which varied from country to country. Atlanticism was the result of the interplay between national political forces, the formation of cultural ties, and geopolitical considerations. And although the specifics of its emergence may have varied, the reasons motivating it were similar: needs related to security and identity. Finally, the examples cited here show to what extent painful pasts have shaped foreign policy.

Resumen
La orientación atlántica de Europa Central se analiza a través del ejemplo de tres países : Hungría, Polonia y la República Checa. El estudio muestra que esta elección, realizada justo después del final de la Guerra Fría, no era ni lógica ni obvia, sino que se basaba en una construcción política cuyas motivaciones eran diferentes según los casos considerados. El atlantismo es el resultado tanto de los juegos políticos nacionales como de la formación de vínculos culturales o de consideraciones geopolíticas. Sin embargo, si bien las modalidades de su inclusión en el programa eran variadas, las razones subyacentes eran similares y correspondían a necesidades de seguridad e identidad. Finalmente, este ejemplo muestra cómo el doloroso pasado ha influido en la construcción de la política exterior.
