Résumé
Faut-il tenir pour acquis le raisonnement stratégique qui affirme que la violence militaire est un moyen rationnellement utilisable au service de fins politiques ? Cet article traite ce problème à partir d’une relecture de travaux issus des sciences humaines (histoire, anthropologie ou encore études en communication) autres que les Relations internationales. À l’aide de ceux-ci, il met en évidence le fait que le raisonnement stratégique doit sa continuité aux intérêts de certains acteurs responsables de cadrages très sélectifs, pour ne pas dire biaisés, des effets de l’usage de la force. Pour prendre la pleine mesure de ce phénomène, une perspective dédisciplinarisée, voire indisciplinée, s’impose.

Abstract
Should we take for granted strategic reasoning that states that military violence is a rational means used to serve political ends ? This article addresses this issue through a reading of works in the humanities (history, anthropology, and communication studies) other than international relations. Using these, it highlights the fact that strategic reasoning owes its staying power to the interests of certain actors responsible for framing the effects of the use of force in a highly selective, if not overtly biased manner. To take the full measure of this phenomenon, a non-disciplinary approach is needed.

Resumen
Hace falta tomar como cierto el razonamiento estratégico de que la violencia militar es un medio racionalmente útil al servicio de los fines políticos ? Este artículo aborda dicho problema desde una relectura de los trabajos de las ciencias sociales (historia, antropología e incluso los estudios en comunicación), más allá de las relaciones internacionales. Con ayuda de tales ciencias, se pone en evidencia el hecho de que el razonamiento estratégico debe su continuidad a los intereses de ciertos actores responsables del encuadramiento (framing) selectivo, por no decir sesgado, de los efectos del uso de la fuerza. A fin de considerar el fenómeno, se impone el empleo de una perspectiva des-disciplinarizada.
